CONTENTS

There are no certain data, but it is not unreasonable to venture that the contemplation of the night sky began with the first modern humans, almost 70,000 years ago. Looking at the night sky in search of the meaning of existence is a hallmark of our condition as a species, of our humanity.

From the Stone Age to the Space Age, we have gazed at the stars and been spellbound by their majesty and beauty. This fascination shared by all human beings from all peoples and times in history has contributed to shaping us as a civilization and as individuals.

Astrotourism is a modality of sustainable and responsible tourism that combines the observation of the night and day sky, the dissemination and leisure activities related to astronomy. But it is also a resource to promote territories with fewer possibilities that see star tourism as an excellent opportunity to increase quality visitors.

The Sierra de Cádiz region has been a Starlight destination since 2022. It includes the Sierra de Grazalema where the Tambor del Llano farm is located, which has exceptional conditions for observing the night sky and therefore for the development of astrotourism activities.
